Making of Rag Rugs

Continuing an American tradition of making area rugs from recycled clothing on strong cotton warp, our rugs are made in various sizes to suit your needs.

They are completely machine washable, but dry flat... or over a clothes rack.

Here’s a picture of our 1930s HEAVY Duty Union  rug loom.

The reason handwoven rag rugs have richer color than some commercial products that the rags can be a combination of many different colors, sewn together in a pattern that will give a visual "depth" to the final product.

Of course, because of this "blending" process of recycled cloth, it is almost impossible for us to replicate a rug shown in our current inventory.
